Filmed during the pandemic by Vanessa Coleman, this award-winning short documentary depicts nature as saving grace through poetry & the eyes of one family sheltering in place in the Yucatán.
Director Statement
Similar to my aesthetics in fiber artworks, this film weaves poetry between the sand grains wedged in toes and through music that lingers into the next scene…each one broken and mended…and yet healing as waves crash and break the restless dream.
My inaugural short film is a memoir of years in five minutes.
A lyrical seascape meant to comfort the most challenging of emotions, while Robert Van Sluis’s Flamenco strumming pulls you whimsically away from it all.
Let this be what it is for you. A feeling the ocean brings. A soft blow in the gut. A flashback to simpler times. ~Vanessa Coleman
